Michael Coburn’s practice is focused on advising insurtechs, insureds, insurers, venture capital firms, reinsurers and brokers on a broad range of regulatory and transactional matters. Michael has extensive experience in the insurtech space, including advising on the formation and licensing of startup insurtech companies, negotiating partnership agreements on behalf of insurtechs with insurance carriers, drafting innovative policies and providing general regulatory advice to insurtechs. He also provides insurance related advice on mergers & acquisitions as well commercial litigation, including assisting in the procurement and negotiation of representation and warranty insurance, conducting insurance-related diligence and providing insurance regulatory advice during litigation.

Prior to joining Cooley, Michael was a corporate associate at Debevoise & Plimpton in their insurance practice group.

Jonah Goldberg, Underwriting Counsel
Liberty Global Transaction Solutions

Jonah is based in Toronto and is Liberty GTS’ primary contact for all transactional risk products in Canada. Jonah has extensive experience as a corporate lawyer both in-house and in private practice having advised internal and external clients across a range of sectors including financial services, life sciences, technology and FinTech. Prior to joining Liberty GTS, Jonah was in-house counsel at Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) providing strategic advice and guidance on RBC’s enterprise M&A and innovation activity. Prior to RBC, Jonah spent four years at Torys LLP where his practice focused on cross-border mergers, acquisitions and private equity transactions. Jonah holds a JD degree from Queen’s University and is admitted to the bar in the Province of Ontario.
