Effectively-handled depositions provide a strong foundation in prosecuting or defending cases. However, with several legal developments continuously shaping the landscape along with the changes brought by the implementation of remote depositions because of the pandemic, handling a deposition has now become more challenging and complex.

To avoid potential risks and pitfalls, it is of utmost importance that lawyers keep themselves abreast of the strategies in taking and defending depositions. Devising efficient deposition techniques must also be considered to maximize its potentials in winning a case.

George A. Kiser focuses his practice on trials involving toxic tort litigation, including asbestos and silica cases. He handles asbestos cases pending in Madison and Cook Counties in Illinois, St. Louis, Missouri, and outlying Illinois counties. He has coordinated and negotiated settlement of asbestos cases, prepared and argued trial motions, and acted as trial counsel in asbestos trials, as well as having oversight and management responsibility for hundreds of asbestos cases.

Before entering private practice, Kiser did a two-year judicial law clerkship for the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Eastern District of Missouri. He has represented clients throughout Illinois and Missouri and has tried 29 cases to jury verdict in Missouri and Illinois. He has handled automobile personal injury defense litigation cases, insurance coverage defense litigation cases, contract defense litigation, administrative proceedings, criminal defense, and municipal contract negotiations and oversight. He has also has argued cases before the Missouri and Illinois Courts of Appeals, the Missouri Supreme Court, and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Seventh and Eighth Circuits.

Robert has extensive experience in the litigation, trial, and appeal of a broad spectrum of cases on behalf of businesses and individuals in the state and federal courts throughout Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.

Along with his insurance, construction, employment, and general liability practice, Robert has substantial experience representing manufacturers and distributors of building products, consumer products, industrial machinery, transportation equipment, residential equipment and machinery, marine equipment, sprinkler systems, ansul systems, construction products, and automotive equipment in complex litigation matters. Additionally, Robert has substantial experience representing manufacturers and distributors of asbestos-containing products in toxic tort cases in multiple jurisdictions. He has participated in the selection and development of expert witnesses, including medical, industrial hygiene, and liability, and has conducted hundreds of lay and expert depositions and successfully used those depositions to obtain favorable results for his clients.
