South Carolina CLE Requirements: All attorneys admitted to practice in South Carolina shall complete fourteen (14) credit hours of continuing legal education including at least two (2) credit hours of legal ethics/professional responsibility (LEPR). Attorneys must complete one (1) hour of LEPR devoted exclusively to instruction in substance abuse, mental health issues or stress management and the legal profession at least once every three (3) years.

Approval of Programs: The Knowledge Group does not submit application for CLE credits in South Carolina. Attorneys may apply directly for individual course approval by completing and submitting a Uniform Application for Accreditation of CLE Activity, along with a $25 per course application fee. Along with the application, you will be required to submit a copy of the program’s brochure, agenda and handout materials. COVID-19 Update: The South Carolina Supreme Court issued an order that allows lawyers to earn all the CLE credit they are required to obtain for the 2021-2022 annual reporting year through online or telephonic programs effective March 31, 2021.
SC CLE Reporting Procedure: The Knowledge Group does not submit attendance report to South Carolina Commission on CLE and Specialization.
Update: South Carolina attorneys, by a recent Supreme Court order, may complete their credit requirement (14 hours) via online or telephonic programs for the 2019/2020 reporting period (ending April 15, 2020) due to COVID-19.
South Carolina CLE Requirements For Newly Admitted Attorneys: Newly admitted attorneys in the state of South Carolina are exempted from MCLE requirements in the reporting year in which they are licensed.
