North Dakota CLE Requirements

Whether you’re an experienced or newly admitted North Dakota attorney, here’s what you need to know about the ND CLE rules and how to get your North Dakota CLE Requirements fulfilled with a Knowledge Group CLE Bundle.

North Dakota CLE Requirements: All attorneys admitted to practice in North Dakota shall complete forty-five (45) credit hours of continuing legal education including at least three (3) credit hours of ethics.

Compliance Deadline: June 30

Reporting Deadline: July 31

Reporting Periods for North Dakota Attorneys:

  • CLE Reporting Group 1 reports in 2021 for the period beginning July 1, 2018–June 30, 2021.
  • CLE Reporting Group 2 reports in 2022 for the period beginning July 1, 2019–June 30, 2022.
  • CLE Reporting Group 3 reports in 2023 for the period beginning July 1, 2020-June 30, 2023.

Compliance Cycle: Every three years

Approval of Programs: The Knowledge Group does not submit application for CLE credits in North Dakota. Courses approved by a CLE body of a state with mandatory CLE are presumptively approved. TKG webcasts are pre-approved in California.

Program Format: The Knowledge Group LIVE Webcasts qualify as live programs in North Dakota. There is no limit to the number of credits a North Dakota attorney can earn via live programs. View our list of LIVE Webcasts.

The Knowledge Group on-demand programs qualify as self-study in North Dakota. Attorneys may claim no more than fifteen (15) hours of credit by self-study during a reporting period. North Dakota does not pre-approve self-study. Attorneys must request and self-report credits earned in self-study courses. View our list of Recorded Webcasts.

ND CLE Reporting Procedure: The Knowledge Group does not submit attendance report to North Dakota CLE Commission. Attorneys must self-report their attendance by submitting their certificate of attendance to the Commission.

North Dakota CLE Requirements For Newly Admitted Attorneys: The initial reporting period for newly admitted attorneys in the state of North Dakota will commence the July 1st following the date of re-licensure or initial licensure. New admittees may carry-over credits earned from courses taken after August 1 of the year of their admission.
