CPE Requirements: All accountants admitted to practice in New York shall complete 40 hours of CPA CPE in any of the recognized subject areas, or
24 hours of CPA CPE concentrated in one subject area
Subject Area Requirements
CPA Ethics: 4 hours of ethics CPE every 3 year license period
Approved Subject Areas: Accounting, Auditing, Attestation, Taxation, Advisory Services, Specialized Knowledge and Applications related to specialized industries.
In order to be eligible for CPE credit, regardless of the subject area, a course must contribute to the development or maintenance of professional knowledge.
Supervisory Role at a Firm: Any licensee who supervises attest or compilation services or signs or authorizes someone to sign the accountant’s report on financial statements on behalf of a firm must complete at least 40 hours of continuing education in audit, accounting, and/or attest during the 3 years immediately prior to the performance of such services.
Compliance Deadline: Triennial based on date of issuance (current) and birth month (prior to 1/1/1993)
Reporting Period: 1/1 to 12/31 annually
Compliance Cycle: Triennial
Approval of Programs: The Knowledge Group meet the NASBA/AICPA CPE Standards for Group-Internet Based Courses.
The Knowledge Group, LLC is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority of the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
