Whether you’re an experienced or newly admitted Tennessee attorney, here’s what you need to know about the TN CLE rules and how to get your Tennessee CLE Requirements fulfilled with a Knowledge Group CLE Bundle.

Tennessee CLE Requirements: All attorneys admitted to practice in Tennessee shall complete fifteen (15) credit hours of continuing legal education including at least three (3) credit hours of Ethics/Professionalism (or Dual hours).

Compliance Cycle: Annual

Approval of Programs: The Knowledge Group does not automatically submit CLE application for all our programs in Tennessee. Attendees seeking approved credits should send an email to [email protected] for more information.

Tennessee CLE Program Format: The Knowledge Group webcasts qualify as “distance learning courses” in Tennessee. Attorneys are limited to eight (8) credits of distance learning programs per compliance period. View our list of LIVE Webcasts and Recorded Webcasts.

COVID-19 Update: The Tennessee Supreme Court issued an order that effective immediately and through December 31, 2021, lawyers may earn all or any portion of the required continuing legal education hours for 2021, or for purposes of seeking reactivation or reinstatement in 2021, through approved Distance Learning completed through December 31, 2021.

TN CLE Reporting Procedure: The Knowledge Group submits attendance report for approved courses to Tennessee Commission on CLE and Specialization.

Update: Tennessee has waived its 8-hour distance learning limit for the 2019 CLE requirements through March 31 due to COVID-19.

Tennessee CLE Requirements For Newly Admitted Attorneys: Tennessee attorneys who passed the February Bar Exam and who sworn in prior to September 1 will be awarded with the required fifteen (15) hours of CLE credit to fulfill that CLE obligation. Tennessee attorneys who passed the July Bar Exam will receive the fifteen (15) hours of CLE credit the year following the passage of the bar exam regardless of when they are sworn in.
