Ohio CPE Requirements

Whether you’re an experienced or newly admitted Ohio accountant, here’s what you need to be in the know about the OH CPE rules and how to get your Ohio CPE Requirements fulfilled with a Knowledge Group CPE Bundle.

CPE Requirements: All accountants admitted to practice in Ohio shall complete 120 hours of CPA CPE every 3 years, with a minimum of 20 CPE hours annually. Failure to complete 20 CPE credits annually may result in a fine of ten dollars for every CPE credit deficient.
Newly licensed CPAs must complete 40 hours the initial 2-year renewal (“newly certified period”). This 2-year period starts the January of the year a CPA earns their license and ends the December 31 following the year the CPA was initially licensed.
Subject Area Requirements
CPA Ethics: 3 hours of ethics CPE every 3 year license period
Tax: 24 CPE hours every 3 year license period if holder assumes responsibility by performing tax work on any engagement, preparing any tax return, or signing any tax return as a certified public accountant or public accountant.
Accounting and Auditing (A&A): 24 CPE hours every 3 year license period if holder assumes responsibility by performing accounting, auditing, or attestation work on any engagement, preparing any financial report, or signing any financial report.
An Ohio permit holder who performs regulated services in financial reporting or internal controls reporting shall complete at least 24 CE credits in the fields of accounting or auditing during the 3-year reporting period specific to the types of services provided by the Ohio permit holder.

Reporting Period: 1/1 to 12/31 triennially
Compliance Cycle: Triennial
Approval of Programs: The Knowledge Group meet the NASBA/AICPA CPE Standards for Group-Internet Based Courses.
The Knowledge Group, LLC is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority of the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
