Minnesota CLE Requirements: All attorneys admitted to practice in Minnesota shall complete forty-five (45) credit hours of continuing legal education including at least three (3) credit hours of ethics and at least two (2) credit hours of elimination of bias.

Compliance Deadline: June 30

Reporting Deadline: August 31

Minnesota attorneys are divided into three (3) categories for CLE reporting and new attorneys are assigned to Category 1, 2, or 3 for reporting every 3 years. Category 1 attorneys report in 2018; Category 2, in 2019; and Category 3, in 2020.

  • Category 1: July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2018; July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2021
  • Category 2: July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2019; July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022
  • Category 3: July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2020; July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2023

Approval of Programs:
 The Knowledge Group does not automatically submit CLE application for all our programs in Minnesota. Attendees seeking approved credits should send an email to [email protected] for more information.

Program Format: The Knowledge Group LIVE Webcasts qualify as live courses in Minnesota. There is no limit to the number of credits a Minnesota attorney can earn via live courses. View our list of LIVE Webcasts.

The Knowledge Group Recorded Webcasts qualify as on-demand courses in Minnesota. Attorneys are limited to fifteen (15) credit hours of on-demand courses per compliance period. View our list of Recorded Webcasts.

Minnesota CLE Reporting Procedure: The Knowledge Group submits attendance report for approved courses to Minnesota Board of CLE.

For Newly Admitted Attorneys

Minnesota CLE Requirements For Newly Admitted Attorneys: New lawyers have a full three-year reporting period, plus the balance of the year that the lawyer is admitted.
